We had a special surprise guest!!!
 AMA President Dave Mathewson stopped by our field Saturday June 6th during the 2009 Warbirds Over Wilson Field. He met and spoke with many of our club members. It was a bigger surprise later that day for Bliss Teague who was celebrating his 50th Anniversary with his wife Shirley when Dave showed up unannounced. Needless to say it a was special day for all of us who attended.

2009 Warbirds Over Wilson Field
 The 2009 Warbirds Over Wilson Field was another success at West Hickory Aeromodelers. There were 23 registered pilots and many more spectators to watch the great planes of the history of military aviation. From a 1916 Eindecker from WWI to many electric and ducted fans jets. Annual Work Day A Success!
A HUGE thank you to all who participated in our club wide workday held the last Saturday in April. We were able to get the shed moved, the fencing & posts taken down at the south end of the runway, de-F.O.D. our runway of small rocks & grass patches, and weed eat & mow the entire property. We definitely have the nicest flying field in Western N.C., and all for only $6.25 per month!
